Reflecting the Gospel Through Scholarship: Tyndale Fellowship Conference 2025
The Tyndale Fellowship Conference 2025 will bring together evangelical scholars, pastors, and students from around the world from 30 June to 2 July at The Hayes Conference Centre in Swanwick, Derbyshire. Rooted in Scripture and committed to serving the church, the conference is a unique space where worship, fellowship, and deep biblical scholarship intersect.
IVP authors will once again play a central role, contributing across multiple disciplines, from deep theological reflection to practical ministry insight. Their presence reflects the Tyndale Fellowship’s long-standing commitment to thoughtful, faithful engagement with God’s Word.
IVP and Apollos at the Centre of the Conversation
This year, we’re delighted to see many IVP and Apollos authors and editors leading sessions, shaping study groups, and contributing to rich theological dialogue.
Leading Voices: Dr Chloe Lynch and Dr Beth Stovell
Two IVP voices feature prominently in this year’s conference:
-
Dr Chloe Lynch, author of the forthcoming The Glorious Risk, will speak on “The Agogic Moment: Implications for the Personal-Professional Dialectic in Spiritual Direction”, as part of the Practical Theology study group. Her work explores personhood and pastoral practice, with an emphasis on authenticity, risk, and vocation.
-
Dr Beth Stovell, editor of the Apollos Old Testament Commentary (AOTC) series, will address “War, Women, and Wrath: Troubling Texts in the Twelve” in the Old Testament group. As a respected scholar and Bible teacher, she brings pastoral sensitivity and academic insight to the difficult texts of the Minor Prophets.
Both are IVP authors whose work represents the blend of theological depth and practical insight that IVP seeks to publish.
A Strong Showing from IVP Authors and Editors
The 2025 conference features a wide range of IVP authors and editors, many of whom contribute to our cornerstone series: Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries (TOTC), Tyndale New Testament Commentaries (TNTC), New Studies in Biblical Theology (NSBT), and Apollos Old Testament Commentary (AOTC). These scholars bring biblical depth, theological clarity, and pastoral insight into their respective study groups:
-
Dr David G. Firth, Chair of the Tyndale Fellowship, is series editor for the Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries (TOTC) and author of Including the Stranger (NSBT) and 1 & 2 Samuel (AOTC).
-
Dr G. Geoffrey Harper, lecturer and biblical theologian, is author of the forthcoming NSBT volume You Shall Be Clean.
-
Dr L. Michael Morales, author of Who Shall Ascend the Mountain of the Lord? (NSBT), and a two-volume commentary on Numbers for the AOTC series: Numbers 1-19 and Numbers 20-36.
-
Dr Paul Williamson, author of Exodus (TOTC) and Death and the Afterlife (NSBT), also contributes to a range of edited volumes across IVP’s list.
-
Dr Matthew S. Harmon, author of The Servant of the Lord and His Servant People, brings theological depth to the biblical theology discussions.
-
Dr Charlie Hadjiev is a contributor to the TOTC series.
-
Dr Tony Lane, author of Sin and Grace, also contributes to Exploring Christian Doctrine (SPCK).
-
Dr Beth Stovell, editor of the Apollos Old Testament Commentary (AOTC), will also be presenting in the Old Testament study group.
Also contributing to the programme are:
-
Dr Jamie Grant, co-editor of volumes on The God of Covenant and Transforming the world?
-
Dr Philip Jenson, editor and contributor to several Old Testament and theological volumes.
-
Dr Alex Irving, author of We Believe and co-chair of the Christian Doctrine study group.
-
Dr Ian Paul, author of Revelation (TNTC) and contributor to various IVP edited volumes.
-
Dr Murray Smith, contributing to a forthcoming NSBT volume.
-
Dr Jason Sexton and Dr Tom Noble, both contributors to multiple IVP and Tyndale Fellowship edited volumes, including British Evangelical Theologians of the Twentieth Century.
These voices exemplify IVP’s mission: publishing biblical, accessible, and theologically robust resources for the whole church.
Featured Tyndale Fellowship Lectures
This year’s main lectures include three timely and theologically rich topics:
-
Craig G. Bartholomew, author of Old Testament Wisdom Literature explores “The Doctrine of Creation and the Symbolism of Evil”, drawing on Paul Ricoeur’s philosophy to deepen our understanding of creation and fall.
-
Geoffrey Harper examines “Feeding Time at the Zoo?”, unpacking the unsettling biblical motif of animals consuming people and its connection to divine judgment and sacrifice.
-
H.G.M. Williamson asks “As Originally Given: What Does the Tyndale Fellowship’s Doctrinal Statement Mean?", challenging evangelicals to reflect deeply on textual reliability in light of manuscript evidence.
More Than a Conference
The Tyndale Fellowship Conference isn’t just for scholars, it’s a gathering point for anyone passionate about Scripture, whether you’re a theological student, church leader, or serious Bible reader. It’s also a showcase of how evangelical academic work strengthens the church’s witness to Christ.
