Living Wage Employer

Role: IVP Intern

Inter-Varsity Press

Location: London office/home

Contract: temporary, hours dependent on individual

Salary: this is a work experience internship, though IVP will pay for travel to and from the office/events, reasonable lunch expenses, and any costs incurred.

Are you thinking about getting into publishing, as a Christian, or into Christian publishing specifically? We would love to connect with you, and think and pray together about whether an internship at IVP could be the next step for you.

Whether you are a student on a related course looking for a placement, a recent graduate thinking about next steps, or pondering a career change, an internship with IVP could be a rewarding and exciting way to think through what's next, as well as gain valuable experience in the UK's leading evangelical publisher, part of the UK's largest Christian publisher, the SPCK Group.

We will build the role around you - from 2-4 days/week, blending remote and office work, and giving you insight into every part of the publishing process. For example, you could experience different aspects of the following:

  • Editorial - from assessing proposals, considering new ideas, to the nuts and bolts of our editorial process.
  • Production - learning about how the physical and digital books are literally made.
  • Art - insights into book cover design, as well as the look and feel of websites, apps, marketing materials and more.
  • Rights - discovering the fascinating and complex world of international translations, digital platforms, book fairs, and more.
  • Marketing/Sales/PR - exploring the lifecycle of a book's introduction to the world, including social media, traditional media, online tools/shops, bookshops and more.

To get a feel for what it might involve, check out this recent blog post by C, who interned with us from September to December 2023.

For an informal conversation, or to submit a CV and a cover letter of around 500 words, please do drop us a line at ivp AT ivpbooks DOT com [the 'AT' and the 'DOT' are the normal email/internet symbols]
