UK Launch of Called to Care by Jo Knight

Join Jo Knight for the UK launch of her new book, bringing people together to explore Christian responses to climate, poverty and justice. Prepare for a welcoming afternoon marking the launch of Called to Care (Inter‑Varsity Press) by Australian author Jo Knight, with a panel featuring Dr Ruth Valerio (Author, Embrace Middle East) and Paul Cook (Arise), moderated by Pete Moorey (Christian Aid).

More than a traditional book launch, this event is an invitation to come together across churches, movements, organisations and perspectives to explore what faithful Christian engagement can look like in a time of deep division on issues such as climate, poverty and justice.

Called to Care is written to widen the tent. Drawing on Scripture, lived experience and stories from the global church, the book features insights and interviews with voices including Ruth Valerio, Dave Bookless and Kuki Rokhum (A Rocha), Katharine Hayhoe, and perspectives from the Global South. It offers an accessible and hopeful starting point for Christians at various points on the journey.

The afternoon will include a thoughtful panel conversation grounded in practice rather than ideology, exploring:

• how Christians can engage wisely and faithfully in partisan times

• how care for people and planet belongs at the heart of Christian discipleship

• what we can learn from churches and communities responding with courage and hope around the world

Rooted in Jo Knight’s experience advocating in highly partisan contexts in Australia, alongside global examples that stretch beyond our national political frames, this conversation creates space for people to listen, share and learn together whatever their background, role or starting point.

There will be time for audience conversation, opportunities to connect with others, book purchases from Inter‑Varsity Press, and a book signing session.

This event forms part of Christian Aid's Great Big Green Week and is warmly open to those already engaged, those unsure where to begin, and anyone longing for more generous and constructive Christian conversations in our shared public life.
