Eleanor's Top Titles of 2020

At the end of the year, it's become customary for folk to share their Top Ten Titles of the year. We asked our editorial team what their Top Ten would be - we made them pick 5 IVP/Apollos books, and 5 that we didn't publish! Eleanor Trotter is a Senior Commissioning Editor here at IVP, and these are herTop Ten Books of 2020, in no particular order...

Essentially One by Jonathan Lamb – a sane recalibrating of what Christian / biblical unity should look like, challenging our tendency to split; ideal for everyone who’s ever wondered which issues are primary, secondary and tertiary in God’s eyes
An Identity to Die For by Paul Mallard – seeing ourselves as God sees us, whatever peers or social media may think or dictate, based on my curated image. Can anything be so freeing to young people (and others) today? [Answer: no]
Jesus, Lover of My Soul by Julian Hardyman – what does our union with Christ look like, and what are the implications?
Radical Gratitude by Peter Maiden – working with a dying author, seeing him live out gratitude in his final months, and then getting the published book into his hands just two weeks before he died - humbling and moving in equal measure
Wrestling with My Thoughts by Sharon Hastings – last, but certainly not least, the product of chats, coffees, visits to the author in hospital, writes and rewrites…culminating in two highly enjoyable launches. Heartfelt responses to the author show that this is a book that finds the words for those who don’t have the words (to quote Mark Meynell)

The Brontes by Juliet Barker
Dying to Live by William Still
Piercing Heaven by Robert Elmer [Puritan prayers]
The Woman I Was Born to Be by Susan Boyle
12 Rules for Life by Jordan B Peterson

That's Eleanor's Top Ten for 2020! The five IVP titles are available below - and you can find the others at your local bookshop or online.
