The IVP November 2020 Releases

November 2020 sees the publication of some landmark books here at IVP.

The biggest and bluest of our releases this year is the Second Edition of Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem. Having sold over 500,000 copies worldwide since first publication in 1994, this book perhaps needs no introduction. But, just in case, we've started sharing blog posts, extracts and playlists about this mammoth tome. Keep your eyes out for an interview with Wayne soon! You can preorder your copy now (Saving £10!). For more about what's changed in the new edition, and for playlists of hymns and contemporary worship songs chosen by Wayne Grudem, just click on the images below. We are also publishing a workbook, which can help you study and dig deeper into the Bible. That is also available for preorder now.

Why a second edition?                   Systematic Theology: The Playlists

Wayne Grudem has also commended another of our November releases, Julian Hardyman's Jesus, Lover of My Soul. This new book digs deep into the Song of Songs, and offers disciples of Jesus the chance to truly understand the depths of Christ's love for us. Wayne comments: "What a remarkable book! Julian Hardyman was once my student, but more recently he has, on several occasions, served as a wise pastor for me personally. I was surprised to find myself convinced by his argument that the Song of Songs can be read not only as a beautiful description of human romantic love, but also as a divinely-inspired guide that can draw believers into a closer personal relationship with Christ. It has certainly done that for me." You can preorder Jesus, Lover of My Soul now (saving £2 on the paperback!).

From Tony Lane comes a new book in our Apollos imprint, Sin and Grace: Evangelical Soteriology in Historical Perspective. This comprehensive and readable book represents the distilliation of a lifetime of faithful study and teaching by it's author. Bob Letham of Union School of Theology says "This excellent discussion is both thorough and accessible, seasoned with pithy analogies and illustrations, and tested over decades of teaching. One of the world’s leading Calvin scholars and an authority on the historical debates on justification, Lane has a remarkable depth and breadth of knowledge but uses it judiciously and unobtrusively. Operating clearly within biblical and evangelical parameters he displays independent judgement, cogently presented, but free from anything partisan. For a wide readership beyond the popular level, this is the best single book on sin and grace of which I am aware." To find out if you agree, you can preorder your copy now (saving £4 on the paperback!)

Finally, we've got two more books to help you dig into the New Testament. Another refreshed Bible Speaks Today volume is imminent: The Message of Acts by John Stott. We are also publishing a new entry in the Tyndale Old Testament Commentary, on Hebrews, by David G. Peterson of Moore College in Sydney. Both of these books are available to preorder now, and you can save £2 off the paperback RRP by ordering direct from us.
