IVP Authors at EMA 2025: Preaching, Theology, and the Local Church

We’re excited to share that several IVP authors will be speaking at EMA 2025, hosted by the Proclamation Trust. This much-loved event at Emmanuel Centre, Westminster is a key date for evangelical church leaders, pastors, and Bible teachers. It's a time to be refreshed by the Word, encouraged by fellowship, and equipped for gospel ministry in a changing world.

As always, EMA brings together faithful expositors of Scripture, and we’re delighted that a number of IVP authors will be among this year’s contributors.

This year’s theme, “Encouraged: Godly Leadership,” will explore how gospel ministry can remain resilient and hopeful in a sceptical world.

Meet the IVP Authors Speaking at EMA 2025

Jonathan Griffiths – Preaching with Biblical Clarity

Biblical theology for faithful sermon preparation

Jonathan Griffiths, Lead Pastor of The Metropolitan Bible Church in Ottawa, is returning to EMA to help us think more deeply about the theology and practice of preaching.

He is the author of Preaching in the New Testament, a rigorous yet accessible study exploring how Scripture itself defines preaching and the role of the preacher. Whether you're preparing sermons weekly or training future leaders, this book offers a strong biblical foundation.

Jonathan also contributes to The Perfect Saviour, a collection of essays honouring John Stott and exploring the power and priority of gospel preaching.

His sessions at EMA 2025 will help us answer questions like:
What does the New Testament teach about preaching?
How should the preacher relate to the message of the cross?

Graham Beynon – Leading with the Heart and the Word

Spiritual formation and leadership shaped by the Gospel

Graham Beynon, pastor of Grace Church Cambridge and Director of Independent Ministry Training at Oak Hill College, will also be speaking at EMA 2025.

Graham’s ministry reflects a deep concern for how the Gospel shapes both leadership and personal formation. His writing spans a wide range of pastoral topics, including:

At EMA, Graham will be helping evangelical church leaders think through gospel-shaped leadership, character marked by humility, a ministry empowered by the Spirit, and a heart formed by biblical truth. Expect teaching that is both theologically rooted and pastorally wise.

Jonathan Leeman – Church, Politics, and the Kingdom of Christ

Public theology rooted in the authority of King Jesus

We’re also delighted that Jonathan Leeman, Editorial Director at 9Marks and a respected voice on church life and public theology, will be speakingat EMA.

He authored Political Church, a bold and theologically rich book that challenges us to see the local church as a kind of political institution, not aligned with worldly powers or partisan agendas, but governed by the authority of the risen and reigning King Jesus, rooted in Scripture and shaped by the Gospel.

In an age of growing political polarisation, Leeman argues that the gathered church displays a better authority, a deeper justice, and a truer citizenship. At EMA, he’ll address the challenges and opportunities of church leadership in a sceptical world, rooted firmly in Scripture and shaped by the Gospel.
