Picture the scene. Immigrants are changing your community. Foreigners are turning up in your place of work, your schools, and your place of worship. There is huge political division. Competing interpretations of God's word throw you into doubt as to what His will really is, as you wrestle with how to respond.
Sound familiar?
This could be a description of the present political situation in the UK, but actually this reflects something of the situation of God's people throughout history.
David Firth's new book Including the Stranger: Foreigners in the Former Prophets is thus a timely book - reflecting deeply and carefully on God's timeless word. Tracing the vital theme of engaging with ethnic difference in Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings, this new contribution to the long-running NSBT series is a readable and helpful guide to some big questions. As a foreigner living in the UK, David is well placed to write this book, and he encourages us to dig deeply into what Scripture says. Including the Stranger is available for preorder now, and publishes on the 21st of November.
We are also publishing four new or re-covered Lifebuilder Bible Studies. Rob Suggs has written a study on The Ten Commandments, whilst Doug and Doris Haugen have written one that looks at Jonah, Joel & Amos. From a more thematic, but still deeply biblically rooted angle, Dale and Sandy Larsen have written a study on Images of God, and Dale and Juanita Ryan have written one on Distorted Images of Self. These new Lifebuilders will be published on the 30th of November, and can be preordered by clicking on the titles, or the images below.
Keep an eye on our blog for more updates on these and other titles!
