The IVP August 2023 Releases

Whilst August has traditionally been a quiet month for IVP (in between the excitement of Keswick, for whom we publish the theme book, and the prayerful preparedness of UCCF's Forum) this year we are publishing five books to help you understand the Bible better and live for Jesus more boldly.

Andy Bannister - whose 'Do Muslims and Christians Worship the Same God?' has topped our bestseller list since it was released in March 2021 - is back with a new book, 'How To Talk About Jesus Without Looking Like an Idiot: A Panic-Free Guide to Having Natural Conversations about Your Faith'. This isn't another dry book about evangelism, it's Andy helping you find easy ways to talk about the true meaning of life with your friends and family. But don't take our word for it

"I love this book. It is simple, practical, and fun."

Sean McDowell, PhD, professor at Biola University

"With his unique blend of humour, wit, and incisive analysis, Andy helps us navigate the opportunities and pitfalls of sharing faith today."

"Andy Bannister's book is so refreshing. His humor is infectious, but don't let it fool you. There is a wealth of wisdom and insight in these page."

Ed Stetzer, PhD, Wheaton College

"His modest tone and laconic style undergird a razor-sharp mind and robust intellect."

Andy Kind, comedian and author

"Andy has produced an accessible, insightful, and culturally savvy text on sharing the gospel in our increasingly hostile, post-Christian setting."

Stephen McAlpine, Director of Cultural Engagement for City to City Australia

"It won't magically turn you into a super evangelist (as Andy explains, they don't really exist in real life), but it will help you to face your fears, start conversations, and simply talk to people about Jesus . . . without looking like an idiot."

Justin Brierley, author, broadcaster, and host of the Unbelievable? show

"...overflowing with evangelistic expertise alongside well-crafted suggestions that are simple to implement and easy to remember, encouraging and empowering you to naturally share your life and faith with others."

Mary Jo Sharp, assistant professor of apologetics at Houston Christian University and author

Of course, understanding who Jesus is will take a lifetime - and our second batch of releases represents the distillation of years of study, preaching and meditation on the books of the Old Testament. Back in 2020 we relaunched our multi-million selling 'Bible Speaks Today' series (As well as launching a new BST NIV Study Bible) - and the updating and rejacketing of the Old Testament books is coming to a crescendo.

This month we are delighted to be publishing four vital volumes that help you understand what the Bible says to us today:

The Message of Isaiah - by Barry G. Webb | The Message of Jeremiah - by Christopher J. H. Wright
The Message of Lamentations - by Christopher J. H. Wright | The Message of the Song of Songs - by Tom Gledhill
