The IVP August 2020 Releases

After our exciting July releases, August slows down a little here at IVP. But even at cruising speed, we've still got some pretty exciting books and resources coming out, if we do say so ourselves.

Since it's publication almost 20 years ago, Salvation to the Ends of the Earth: A Biblical Theology of Mission has been an important conversation partner in the ongoing dialogue about what mission means today. Tracing the activity of God through the whole of the Bible, Andreas J. Kostenberger and T. Desmond Alexander offer a magesterial study of what the Bible actually teaches about mission. Updated and completely revised, with a new chapter on the Old Testament and a reworked look at the New Testament, this is an essential tool for pastors, students and teachers of mission, and any Christian thinking through the biblical foundations for the church's activity in the world. We've posted the preface to the revised edition on our blog, if you are interested in reading a little more about what's changed. You can order your copy, digitally or physically, now!

Coming a little later than planned (the eagle-eyed amongst you may have spotted it last month!) is another revision of a classic - in this case Colin G. Kruse's Pillar New Testament Commenatry on the Letters of John. This is the perfect commentary for preachers looking to engage carefully with the biblical text, and joins other excellent volumes in the series such as Carson on John's Gospel and Peterson on Acts. You can order your copy, digitally or physically, now!

As well as these two slightly heavier books, we are also publishing four updated LifeBuilder Study Guides this August! With the same trusted content that have made this series a best-seller, these four titles are being updated with a fresh look and feel.

  • Hope: Your Heart's Deepest Longing, by Jack Kuhatscheck, gives us 8 studies to walk through the complexities of hope.
  • Christian Character, by Andrea Sterk and Peter Scazzero, offers 12 studies to help disciples deepen their character.
  • Christian Beliefs, by Stephen Eyre, consists of 12 studies exploring what we should know about the foundations of our faith.
  • Coming of the Saviour, by Cindy Bunch, seeks through six studies to give a fresh vision of the coming Christ.
