IVP appoints new publishing director

It's an exciting time for IVP as we appoint our new Publishing Director, Caleb Woodbridge.

Inter-Varsity Press is delighted to announce that Caleb Woodbridge has been appointed to the role of Publishing Director, starting work on Monday 14th October 2019.

Caleb Woodbridge joins IVP from the University of Buckingham, where he was Head of Digital Experience. Prior to that he was a Product Developer at Scripture Union Publishing, which he joined from the digital editorial team at Hodder & Stoughton following a BA and MA in English Literature at Cardiff University, where he was involved with the Christian Union. Caleb attends, and occasionally preaches at, New City Church Milton Keynes, which is part of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches.

Caleb Woodbridge said, “With its rich history of evangelical publishing, I’m thrilled to join IVP at this exciting time. My bookshelves are filled with IVP titles that have helped me grow in my faith. Publishing high quality, biblically faithful books offers a unique opportunity to communicate the truth and beauty of the Gospel to today’s world. I look forward to leading IVP in bold, innovative and mission-focused publishing.“

Dr Andrew Fergusson, Chair of the IVP Publishing Board, said, “We interviewed some strong candidates for the role of IVP Publishing Director, but Caleb stood out for his clear editorial vision for IVP and for his strong publishing and digital experience. I am convinced that he is the right person to connect IVP to the next generation of readers of Christian books that are true to the Bible and that communicate the gospel, develop discipleship and strengthen the church for its mission throughout the world.”

Sam Richardson, CEO of SPCK of which IVP is a subsidiary, said, “Caleb joins at an exciting time for IVP which has found renewed confidence in the last few years. It currently has a title shortlisted for Book of the Year at the Christian Resources Together awards and has a major new product launch in March 2020 of the Bible Speaks Today NIV Study Bible. IVP therefore finds itself encouraged and reinvigorated, and having followed Caleb’s career for several years I am convinced that he is the right person to lead the next stage of IVP’s growth.”

IVP’s Senior Commissioning Editors, Phil Duce and Eleanor Trotter, said, “We look forward to working with Caleb, building upon a widely respected publishing heritage which has enriched the church worldwide, and giving it fresh vision and life for the future.”
