At the end of the year, it's become customary for folk to share their Top Ten Titles of the year. We asked our editorial team what their Top Ten would be - we made them pick 5 IVP/Apollos books, and 5 that we didn't publish! Caleb Woodbridge is our Publishing Director, and these are his Top Ten Books of 2020, in no particular order...
Jesus, Lover of My Soul by Julian Hardyman - a beautiful, intimate book that really helps us understand the reality of having "a personal relationship with Jesus".
Story Bearer, by Phil Knox - a really contemporary book on evangelism, that's made sense even in this strange year.
Healthy Faith and the Coronavirus Crisis, edited by Kristi Mair and Luke Cawley - a project I'm really proud of, bringing together evangelicals from across the spectrum to provide a briefing for the strange time we found ourselves in.
Systematic Theology, by Wayne Grudem - when I was a teenager, the first edition was one of my go-to books for equipping myself for theological debate. It's one of the books that got me excited about theology, and so it's been a real privilege to see this second edition come out.
The Bible Speaks Today NIV Bible - I've been using this as my personal Bible for a lot of the year - perfect for taking to homegroup (when COVID has allowed!) and packed with useful information.
Every Moment Holy - this book of liturgies for different everyday moments of life has really enriched my family's prayer life.
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke - a powerful and haunting novel that any fan of C S Lewis' science fiction novels should check out.
Adorning the Dark by Andrew Peterson - a brilliantly engaging book on some of things I care about most, by one of my favourite authors.
Paladin of Souls, by Lois McMaster Bjold - if you like fantasy with a theological bent, you should check out this book set in a world of quintarian theology.
Breaking Bread with the Dead by Alan Jacobs - a thoughtful meditation on how can we engage well with the past, in a culture that is often fearful of it.
That's Caleb's Top Ten for 2020! The five IVP titles are available below - and you can find the others at your local bookshop or online.
