Since the first booklets in 1928, or our first employee in 1936, many more Christian publishers have emerged into being, and we are often asked what makes IVP unique. Whilst there are a number of different answers to that question, perhaps one of the most interesting is the existence of our Publishing Board, a group of seasoned evangelical leaders, pastors and thinkers from a range of backgrounds and continuing in ministry in a range of ways. The IVP Publishing Board provides oversight and accountability to our editorial team, meeting throughout the year, and via email and phone calls, or one on one meetings. They have the important power of veto, in line with our Doctrinal Basis, and most importantly commit to praying for our team, and the books we publish.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing brief interviews with the current members of the publishing board, starting with Professor Sue Halliday, our Publishing Board Chair. As we post them, we'll update this post so that you can find them all in one place.
As of November 2023, the IVP Publishing Board is composed of:
Professor Sue Vaux Halliday, Professor of Marketing at the University of Herefordshire (Chair).
Rachel Owusu-Ankomah, Head of Student Ministries at The Christian Medical Fellowship.
Mark Finnie, Partnership Director at Biblica.
Revd. Dr. Seidel Abel Boanerges, Dean of Ministerial Formation and Tutor of Practical Theology at Spurgeon's College, London.
Tom Roberts, Event Coordinator for the Word Alive conference, and editor of the bethinking.org apologetics website from UCCF.
Ed Shaw, author of The Plausibility Problem and Purposeful Sexuality, Pastor of Emmanuel City Church, Bristol, and part of the team at Living Out.
